With a few simple tips from our professional cleaners you'll be set for the summer. Whether you plan to use it as a private retreat or a social hub, keeping it fresh and clean will make it the place you want to keep coming back to over the coming months.

We've put together 5 of the best tips for keeping you garden in check, and don't worry, we've made sure every single one is manageable, quick and effective for minimum effort and maximum reward. Read on and don't forget to share with your friends!

Tip #1 - Cobwebs

The last thing you want as you take a moment to sit back in the sun, with a glass of wine and a book is to realise you are surrounded by cobwebs. Worst still, you catch a glimpse of a spider from the corner of your eye. Don't let these tiny creatures ruin your outdoor enjoyment.

Grab your vacuum cleaner – it's the best way to quickly eliminate any webs. Use it for any areas you can extend it to including under and around chairs, tables, pots, door frames, gutters etc. The suction provided by the vacuum will neatly pull and absorb any webs, and will avoid any webs falling in the process. Alternatively, use a microfibre duster or cloth to collect the webs as these can be washed easily in your washing machine. Use a long duster or tie the cloth over a broom head for hard-to-reach areas.

Tip #2 - Garden Furniture

Dirt and dust from the last few months will have accumulated on your garden furniture. Dirt on wood or mid-toned fabrics is particularly inconspicuous – your furniture may seem clean enough from afar but once you start using them you may soon find dirt marks rubbing off on your clothes!

To avoid this, wipe down furniture frames and waterproof fabrics with two cloths (microfibre are the best). The first should be fairly damp, with diluted soapy water. Wipe all over your furniture, rinsing in-between so as not to spread the dirt around. This cloth will do most of the heavy lifting and is intended as the initial, rough stage.

Once you have done your first rough wipe, dampen the second clean cloth with clean water. Rinse out as much of the water as possible so it is only slightly damp. Wipe all over the furniture as before but be more precise this time around and lift any dirty that was missed.

Tip #3 - Parasols

Don't forget to open up you parasols ahead of your next al fresco dinner or you'll find yourself quickly scramming to clean it up before your guests arrive. Clear away any cobwebs you may find as you open up the parasol (see Tip #1) and follow the steps outlined in Tip #2 to clean the fabric on your parasol shade.

Tip #4 - Windows

It's easy to overlook windows and glass doors but as you move between the house and the garden you'll definitely notice if aren't clean. They're supposed to gleam in the sun so when they don't it can really let your whole house down.

You can use a washer and squeegee combo (available on Amazon or other home/DIY stores) or use a window cleaning spray with a microfibre glass cloth. The smooth, tightly packed fibres of the microfibre glass cloth with give a streak free result. Avoid using kitchen towels, regular microfibre cloths or other cloths as these often leave tiny fibres or streaks on the glass surface.

Tip #5 - Sweeping

You can create a big difference to how clean and tidy your garden looks by simply sweeping away leaves, pebbles and dirt from the patio or decked floors in your gardens. Sweeping away stray objects like these will give the illusion of cleaner, bigger and brighter floors. Even a rough 5 minute sweep can give an instantly tidier appearance.
